Get cited by ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews

AI search is downstream of three things: which bots can fetch your site, what they understand when they get there, and which prompts you're a credible answer for. SeoTips Pro tracks all three, end-to-end.

Why most sites are invisible to AI

Three failure modes account for ~90% of "we don't show up in ChatGPT" cases: a blocked crawler, weak structured data, or no concise answer block on the page. We diagnose all three on the first audit.

AI crawler matrix

Per-bot allow / block / unknown for 15 crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, OAI-SearchBot, Google-Extended, Bingbot, Applebot, CCBot, …). Each row links to the one-line robots.txt fix.

llms.txt generator

Produces a spec-compliant /llms.txt summarising your site, key pages, products, contact, and preferred citation pages. Drop it at the root and AI tools have a curated map of what to cite.

Robots.txt recommender

Three policies: open (allow everything), open-no-training (allow search bots, block GPTBot/ClaudeBot/CCBot), paranoid (only Google + Bing). Generates the full body + a per-bot diff.

AI prompt monitor

Set target prompts like "best <service> in <city>" or "alternatives to <competitor>". We test them across providers, track citations, sentiment, missing facts, and suggest the content to add.

Schema + entity clarity

Scores Organization, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, LocalBusiness, Article. Surfaces missing About, Contact, and trust signals AI tools use to judge source credibility.

Citation-worthy content audit

Pages under ~400 words rarely get cited. Pages without FAQ schema rarely get quoted verbatim. We surface every page that crosses those thresholds with a fix.

What customers say

“Found that our Cloudflare bot-fight setting was blocking PerplexityBot. Fixed it in five minutes; cited as a source in Perplexity the next week.”

— J. Tan, Engineering, fintech

“The llms.txt generator picked the right pages — pricing, docs, customer stories. ChatGPT started linking to us on competitor-comparison queries within a month.”

— S. Brar, CMO, SaaS

“We tracked 25 prompts our customers actually search. Built FAQ + comparison content for the 8 we lost on. We're now cited in 19 of 25.”

— D. Owens, Head of Growth, local services

Frequently asked questions

›Why does AI visibility matter if I already rank in Google?

ChatGPT Search now handles ~10% of "what is", "best", and "how to" queries that used to start in Google — and that share is growing. Perplexity captures a different audience: developers, researchers, and analysts who use cited answers for decision-making. Being absent from these surfaces means missing buyers who never see your SERP listing.

›Should I block GPTBot to protect my content?

It's a trade-off. Blocking GPTBot stops your content being used for OpenAI model training but does NOT affect ChatGPT Search citations (that uses OAI-SearchBot and Bingbot). Our default recommendation is open-no-training: keep search bots allowed, block training crawlers. We give you a one-click policy switcher.

›How do you measure AI citations without an official API?

For Perplexity we use their API where it returns cited URLs. For ChatGPT + Claude we use prompt-replay tests and parse the response for your domain. For Google AI Overviews we use approved SERP APIs (DataForSEO, SerpAPI) where you choose to plug in a key. Where no API exists, you can paste an AI response into the UI and we extract citations.

›What is llms.txt and do I actually need it?

llms.txt is an emerging convention (llmstxt.org) for giving AI tools a concise map of your site. It's not yet a hard requirement, but tools that respect it (Perplexity, Anthropic) prefer the pages you list. We generate yours in 5 seconds; deploying it takes 1 commit.

›How quickly do AI tools recrawl after I fix something?

OAI-SearchBot and Bingbot recrawl frequently — usually within 24-72 hours of a sitemap ping. ClaudeBot and GPTBot run on slower cadences (weeks). For Perplexity, IndexNow submission accelerates the recrawl. We submit on your behalf when you fix an action item.

›Does this work for sites behind a paywall?

Partially. For metered paywalls (NYT-style) the metered preview can still be crawled — make sure it's substantial enough to be cited. For hard paywalls, AI tools won't cite the content but you can still rank on the public landing/marketing pages.
